The Ratings System

Guestroom Network maintains a rating of every member and their property to aid in evaluating the relative quality of their home and more specifically, their guestroom.

Members try to keep their ratings as high as possible, as a higher rating entitles them to stay at more highly rated properties. For example, a member with a rating of 70 is able to stay at other members' homes rated no more than 20 points higher than their own (in this example, 90).

The more accurately you evaluate your property when signing on to Guestroom Network, and the more accurately you rate others after staying with them, the more trusted and worthwhile the Guestroom  Network becomes - for all members...

Guestroom Network "Member Protocol"

- Initial ratings are created automatically by the website from the information you provide on your membership sign-up forms.
- The member's rating is displayed on the site with their property's listing.
- To avoid confusion a member may only request contact with members with ratings no higher than 20 above their own.
- After guest stays with the host they submit a rating (Form). The members rating is adjusted to reflect the ratings of the last member to rate them. The existing rating is weighted on a 2 to 1 basis to the latest submitted rating to avoid an unwarranted swing if a member has a particularly bad day. Thus, members are encouraged to provide the highest quality of service and courtesy at all times.
- Hosts must submit a rating of the Guest in order to receive a credit.
- Guest must submit a rating of the Host in order to make future bookings.
- You should always check the ratings and the comments of other members about the prospective host in advance to be sure of the type of accommodation that you will receive.

BE FAIR when you rate others.

Do not let a bad day cause you to speak ill of other members. Use the information provided and add to it with your experience to make the whole system better for everyone. We realize it is sometimes difficult to quantify all variables when rating a guest or host, but please try to be accurate and remember that others will be affecting your rating as well.

Ratings are calculated as follows:

- Accommodations are rated automatically upon sign-up on a scale 1 of 100.
- Hosts are rated by their guests after each stay, according to the physical accommodation, and their hospitality. In addition, guests are also rated by their host in each stayover. As the "Host Rating" and "Guest Rating" information is received by Guestroom Network, it automatically adjusts their current rating and comprises a new, updated score.

Each new rating received affects a members' overall rating.

For example:

If a host's rating stands at 80, and a guest who has just stayed with that host rates them a 50, their new rating is now 70. This formula ensures that a particularly harsh rating from a guest does not unduly influence the host's overall score.
